There are four different types of UFC event:

UFC PPV events (numbered UFC events e.g. UFC 165, UFC 166 etc)
These are the big events shown on pay per view (PPV) in the United States, and invariably feature UFC championship bouts as their main events. UFC PPV.

UFC Fight Night events
These are typically smaller events, often with non-title fights as their main events. Some Fight Night events are held midweek on Wednesday nights.

UFC on FOX events
These events are shown on primetime network (free) television in the US, and often feature a UFC title fight as the main event.

The Ultimate Fighter Finale
Held to complete a series of the UFC's tournament-based reality show 'The Ultimate Fighter', the Finale events pit former housemates against one another, with the tournament finalists going head-to-head to win a contract with the UFC.
