Newcastle United Foundation is an independent charity supported by Newcastle United Football Club, which uses the local passion for football to make a real difference to the lives of disadvantaged young people and their families in the region.
This project will work with over 400 13 – 18 year olds who are underachieving in school or may not be in education, to improve their level of attainment and increase their skills for the future .
The Five-A-Side project will use the sports of football, rugby and cricket to help students achieve a range of accreditations to improve their life skills and employability, with each young person involved in the project leaving with an average of four accreditations. These qualifications can then be used toward achieving GCSEs.
The project will be delivered in 20 secondary schools across Newcastle, reaching over 400 young people in the region.
