Barnet striker Dani Lopez fired his first goal of the season to halt a run of three straight league defeats for his side in a 1-0 win against high-flying Alfreton.
Lopez fired Barnet into the lead five minutes before half-time when he crashed home a long-range effort in off the crossbar and the home side held on.
Barnet made most of the early running and Luisma Villa went close to giving them a third-minute lead when his free-kick flashed inches wide.
Clear-cut chances at both ends were at a premium, but Lopez latched onto the ball 25 yards from goal and fired an unstoppable shot beyond Alfreton goalkeeper Jon Worsnop via the woodwork.
Alfreton, who had won their previous five matches, threatened twice soon after the break when striker John Akinde and defender Dan Bradley forced Barnet goalkeeper Nick Jupp into decent saves.
Barnet missed a golden chance again in the 58th minute, this time striker Jake Hyde chipping the ball over Worsnop and off target when one-on-one with the keeper.
