Skrill Premier leaders Luton recorded a seventh successive victory as they saw off Barnet 2-1 at a rain-sodden Kenilworth Road.

The clash survived a pre-match pitch inspection despite continuous lashing rain and high winds, which only worsened as the game, which was screened live on BT Sport, wore on and seriously threatened its completion.

Despite the conditions, the hosts needed less than two minutes to open the scoring as Andre Gray was sent clean through and took the ball well despite the presence of three Barnet defenders to coolly slot past Graham Stack.

The Bees goalkeeper was forced off due to injury midway through the half and replacement Nick Jupp was beaten just after the half-hour mark as Paul Benson made it 2-0, controlling Jake Howells' left-wing cross before poking home.

With the heavy surface playing havoc, referee Kevin Johnson halted the game after 60 minutes to hold a discussion with his officials and both captains but opted to play on.

And Barnet soon got a foothold back into the game as Jake Hyde swept home well from Keanu Marsh-Brown's cross, but the home side held on to inflict a third successive defeat on the visitors.
