Mako Vunipola has warned his England team-mates that unless they deliver an improved performance Australia will “take them apart”.
Eddie Jones described the autumn series opener against Argentina as a “grindathon” after overseeing a laboured 21-8 victory against their group opponents at the 2019 World Cup.
Australia are the next opposition to arrive at Twickenham and having compiled successive wins against the Pumas, New Zealand and Wales, Vunipola knows the outcome if England are below par once more.
“It shouldn’t happen again,” said the Saracens loosehead prop, who was named man of the match.
“The team Australia are at the moment and the form they are in, they will take you apart if you don’t have that cohesiveness.
“We are obviously pleased to get a win against a good side but we know we could have played a lot better. There was a lack of patience but also accuracy. We have to learn from it.”
