Barry Jones

Barry Jones is a former world boxing champion who now works as a pundit for BT Sport.

He is part of the BT Sport Fight Night Live team, offering expert post-fight analysis and insight.

Barry is also a regular presence in the commentary box on BoxNation - the UK's first dedicated boxing TV station, which is available to all BT Sport subscribers.

The highlight of the Welshman's career in the ring came in December 1997, when he won a unanimous decision over Wilson Palacio to claim the WBO super-featherweight crown.

However, his reign was short-lived as a routine brain scan four months later revealed an anomaly.

With the brain injury sustained by fellow British fighter Michael Watson in 1991 still fresh in the memory, the British Boxing Board of Control decided to suspend Barry's license.

While he was eventually cleared medically to fight again after a seven-month wait, the WBO had stripped him of his title in the interim.

He eventually got a shot at regaining his crown in January 2000 against Acelino Freitas but after being put down six times, his corner threw in the towel in the eighth round and he never fought professionally again.
