With the new football season upon us, BT Sport is introducing new faces, refreshing its Saturday live programming line-up and beginning the roll-out of a ground-breaking new viewing experience, BT Sport Ultimate.
The BT Sport team is bolstered by the arrivals of former England internationals Peter Crouch and Joe Cole, ex-Arsenal and Manchester United star Robin van Persie, and legendary Lioness Karen Carney, who have all joined as football analysts.
The live football weekend now officially begins on BT Sport with new show Early Kick Off - and all four new additions feature prominently.
Hosted by Robbie Savage, Jake Humphrey and Jules Breach, the 10am to midday show aiims to set the agenda for the weekend to come and tackle all the major talking points.
BT Sport’s Saturday schedule will then typically continue with:
• 12pm: exclusively live coverage of a Premier League game
• 2.45pm: BT Sport Score, providing all of the goals, news and analysis across the day’s action
• 3pm: exclusively live coverage of a Gallagher Premiership rugby match
• 5.15pm: exclusively live coverage of a Vanarama National League match
• 7.30pm: live show wrapping up all of the goals from the Vanarama National League – the earliest Saturday evening studio-based highlights show in the UK
This season also sees the launch of BT Sport Ultimate, which will provide viewers with the very best viewing experience possible on the platforms and devices they use to watch BT Sport.
Depending on platform, device and/or connectivity, it will deliver pictures and sound in ultra-high-definition (UHD), high dynamic range (HDR) and - exclusively via BT TV – Dolby Atmos sound.
Recognising the increasing use of mobiles to watch live sport, HDR transforms the sports viewing experience on mobile devices, maximising the colour and definition capabilities of smartphones and tablets.
BT Sport Ultimate is now available to BT TV customers (replacing the BT Sport 4K UHD channel) and to EE 5G pay monthly customers.
It will soon extend to other BT Sport customers, such as EE 4G pay monthly customers and those who watch via the BT Sport App or via Sky.
The UK’s first 5G network, EE 5G, will be the only place to get free access to BT Sport Ultimate.
Pete Oliver, managing director, marketing, in BT’s consumer division, said: “BT is making sport more accessible to more fans in more ways than ever this season. We’re thrilled to welcome Peter Crouch to the squad, as part of an exciting new weekend line up on BT Sport underpinned by new shows.
“The launch of BT Sport Ultimate means BT is first to market with the launch of a new innovation, allowing our customers to take the sports viewing experience on mobile to a level unmatched anywhere.
"This is the latest step in our Best Connected plan, to offer our customers the best content and the best technology, through partnerships with the world’s most innovative companies.”
