As the transfer window enters its dramatic final few weeks, BT Sport is delighted to reveal a shiny new world-class signing of its own: Frank Lampard.

The former Chelsea, Manchester City and England star has joined as a football pundit and will provide expert analysis during our live Premier League, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and Emirates FA Cup coverage this season.

Lampard is uniquely qualified to give his articulate insight, having won each of the competitions as a player, including three Premier League titles, four FA Cups, one UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League in his 13 years with Chelsea.

“I’m delighted to be joining BT Sport," said Lampard, who will make his debut in Sunday's Community Shield as his beloved Blues take on Arsenal.

"I'm looking forward to an exciting new season both here and in Europe and can't wait to begin working with the team."

Lampard joins an impressive roster of pundits featuring former England teammates and UEFA Champions League winners, including Steven Gerrard, Rio Ferdinand, Paul Scholes, Owen Hargreaves and Steve McManaman.

Simon Green, head of BT Sport, said: “It’s no secret that Frank had many offers, both within the game and elsewhere, following his retirement, so we are absolutely thrilled that he has chosen to join the team at BT Sport.

“Frank needs no introduction as a Chelsea and England legend and he has already shown in his first appearances as a broadcaster that he is going to be a shrewd and insightful expert.

"Frank’s incredible pedigree on the field means that he’ll regularly be commenting on a competition that he’s won as a player, which we believe gives him fantastic credibility.”

Lampard, who is Chelsea's record all-time scorer with 211 goals, hung up his boots in February 2016 following a stint with New York City FC.

During his glittering playing career, which began with West Ham in 1995, he scored a total of 300 goals in 1,010 professional matches.

He scored his 211 goals for Chelsea in 649 games and also netted 29 times for his country in 106 appearances.
