Much-changed Celtic hit for four by Lyon in friendly

Celtic suffered a 4-0 home defeat by Lyon after resting all the players who started in their Champions League win over Linfield.

Summer signings Olivier Ntcham and Kundai Benyu both started the friendly at Celtic Park along with Eboue Kouassi, who has been held back by injury in pre-season, and Moussa Dembele and Jonny Hayes, who came off the bench in the 2-0 first-leg win in Belfast.

Benyu had a shot cleared off the line and Callum McGregor had a goal ruled out for offside in a goalless first half but Lyon strengthened at the break and took the lead early in the half when Maxwel Cornet netted on the rebound.

The French side netted three more goals in the final half hour as Brendan Rodgers gave run-outs to young players such as Sam Wardrop, Kerr McInroy, Calvin Miller, Jack Aitchison and Regan Hendry.
