The 2018/19 Vanarama National League season will begin exclusively live on BT Sport with a fascinating clash between two of the main promotion hopefuls.
Salford City will play their first ever game at the summit of the non-league pyramid in front of the BT Sport cameras as they welcome Leyton Orient on Saturday, August 4th (kick-off 12.30pm).
Despite only just being promoted, Salford have been installed as the bookmakers’ early favourites for the title and will certainly add an extra layer of intrigue to the division this term.
‘The Ammies’ are part owned by Manchester United legends Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville, Phil Neville and Nicky Butt, who took over the club in partnership with businessman Peter Lim in 2014.
Three promotions in four years have followed and the ‘Class of 92’ alumni are likely to be regular visitors to the club’s Moor Lane ground as they aim to deliver further on-pitch success.
Their title credentials look set to be given a stern and immediate examination by Orient, who are desperate to bounce back to the Football League at the second time of asking.
The intriguing showdown is one of three Vanarama National League fixtures set to be shown exclusively live on BT Sport in August.
On Saturday, August 11th we’ll be at the Racecourse Ground as another former Football League stalwart, Wrexham, begin their own promotion bid.
The Welsh outfit take on last year’s beaten play-off finalists Boreham Wood in a game that will also kick off at 12.30pm.
Rounding off the month is a clash between Maidenhead United and Maidstone United at York Road, which has been pencilled in for Saturday, August 25th (12.30pm kick-off).
