Bristol City knocked Premier League giants Manchester United out of the Carabao Cup and the Championship side celebrated in typical style.

The Ashton Gate club’s social media department has a reputation for unusual Gif posts to celebrate when players score goals.

Sporting stars joined in the celebrations of the shock 2-1 quarter-final win on Twitter.

The boss and the ball boy

City manager Lee Johnson grabbed a club ball boy to celebrate at full-time as the enormity of his side’s achievement began to sink in.

How Twitter reacted

There was plenty of reaction online, with golfer Chris Wood making reference to Johnson buying an expensive bottle of wine to drink with United manager Jose Mourinho after the game.

Those offering their congratulations included comedian and Bristol City fan Mark Watson, golf star Justin Rose, former jockey AP McCoy and Bristol RFC fly-half Callum Sheedy.

TV pundit Alan Shearer and Stoke striker Peter Crouch added their congratulations.
